The formula for an ideal candidate: collecting all the necessary elements

together with Svitlana Fasolnyak,

Diploma? Experience? Charisma?
An ideal candidate is more than just a set of hard skills. First and foremost, it is a person who knows how to adapt, think, act, and present themselves. Of course, a lot depends on the specific job, but there are universal traits that are always valued by employers.
We share with you the elements of this success formula ✨

Element 1: Professional skills

  • Matching the vacancy: the required set of hard skills (technical or professional skills).
  • Performance: "increased sales by 30%", "optimized the process, which saved 10 hours per week" are specific examples.
  • Willingness to learn: flexibility and openness to new knowledge, willingness to learn new tools, trends, etc.

Element 2: Personal traits

  • Responsibility: Employers value people who can be relied upon to deliver results.
  • Emotional intelligence: the ability to empathize, understand the emotions of others, and communicate properly is an important factor in creating a comfortable work environment.
  • Problem-oriented thinking: seeing a problem not as an obstacle but as a task to be solved becomes an indispensable skill.

Element 3: Soft Skills

  • Resilience: the ability to withstand stress and recover quickly afterwards.
  • New leadership: the ability to inspire, motivate, and support the team, enhancing its effectiveness.
  • Digital literacy: mastery of modern technologies: AI, Big Data, and others to improve work efficiency.
  • Intercultural communication: the ability to communicate with representatives of different cultures and create requests for many types of audiences.

Pillar 4: Values and Ethics

  • Compliance with the corporate culture: a candidate who shares the company's values will integrate into the team faster and will be motivated to work for the long term.
  • Transparency and honesty: employers want to trust their employees, so sincerity and honesty always make a candidate stand out.

Element 5: Self-presentation

  • A strong resume: short, structured, and tailored to a specific job. Highlight key achievements and avoid clichés.
  • Cover letter: helps you stand out. It is important to explain that you are interested in the position and how your skills can help the company.
  • Prepare for the interview: research the company, its values, and history. Ask your own questions to the employer - this is positively received and demonstrates your involvement and interest.
  • Uniqueness: think about what makes you special: experience, non-standard problem solving, additional skills.

Today, companies are focusing on skills-based hiring (*selection by soft skills). They are ready to teach hard skills if they see that the candidate is proactive, able to communicate and adapt to new challenges.

But most importantly, be yourself 👌🏻

Employers are looking not only for professional skills, but also for a person who fits like a glove to the team. Being honest about your strengths and weaknesses is an opportunity to find the perfect work environment where you can grow and realize your potential. 🤝
